if you enjoy writing over the top personalities, secrets, group threads and plot posts (both current and backdated to the 2007 days), and are ready to get creative and have some fun, grads might be a great fit for you! in character drama will be encouraged here, and we hope members will be open and public with their drama rather than keeping it locked away in customs. we will be relying heavily on our members' input to keep the 'gossip blog' aspect of the gpsl rolling, so the more trouble, the better! we look forward to seeing a wide range of unique and creative character types.
as the central group of characters is a high school graduating class from 2007 (though we are open to the idea of expanding to include connections such as family, significant others, etc. in the future if there's interest, so hit up the dropbox and let us know!), all characters should be around the age of 27 or 28 and have pbs appropriate to that range. similarly to many of the private schools in nyc it is based on, kirkwood is comprised 48% of students of color, and while obviously we can't police which pb you choose to use, we'd love to see poc represented. the gpsl will primarily be based in new york city, but characters can be currently living anywhere you'd like - we do recommend they have a strong tie to the city, however, as that is where most of our community events will be taking place. journals should be ic style and not contain underscores or extra letters, and should have a fresh ic post and ooc contact post up, both backdated.
a full bio is not required to apply, but we do ask for a short character blurb (150+ words) or facts that give us an idea of your character. for examples, we'd like to see at least three narratives or scenes with multiple replies. quality writing is important to us, so please provide your best examples, as they will be the main thing applications are evaluated on. if your application is deleted, it's either because you didn't follow the listed guidelines or because we didn't think your examples showed you're a good fit for the gpsl. if we see something small that needs to be changed, we'll comment you to fix it, otherwise we won't be answering questions about rejections.
welcome! an introductory post should be made within 72 hours of being accepted. after that, we ask for an update once a month, but are putting no limitations on what this update can be as long as it shows some effort was put into creating it. however, as we plan to be heavily driven by group activities and public interactions, popping up once a month to make a post and then disappearing won't cut it. we won't be asking you to turn in proof of group activity, but if you go two weeks without updating your friends list or interacting on the friends page, you'll be removed.
it goes without saying that we expect everyone to behave maturely and be kind to one another, but in a setting that relies heavily on writers being able to separate ic drama from ooc, it's extra crucial that this be taken into consideration, so we'll say it once more for the people in the back. ic and ooc lines should not be blurred or crossed, and ooc bullying will not be tolerated. if you run into problems with another member that you can't resolve on your own, let us know and we'll do our best to intervene fairly.
we want you to have a fun time writing here, and will do our part by making grads as inclusive and interactive as we possibly can. in return, we ask that you try to do the same. being receptive to members both new and old will help make this gpsl the best it can be, so be open to making connections and comment around often! we look forward to jumping into this crazy experience with you! ♥
